Drafts is the place (app) where I start all of my text entry on my iPad. I got this idea from Merlin Mann and David Sparks when Merlin was a guest on the Mac Power Users podcast episode #257. In this episodes Merlin was talking about the workflows (processes not the Workflow iOS app) he uses to be as productive and creative as possible in his work with his Mac and iOS devices.
Drafts is a text editor app on iOS that enables you to create actions to send that text to other apps such as Omnifocus, Fantastical, email, Reminders, Google Drive, Dropbox, Tweetbot, Twitter, TextExpander, 2Do, and Clear to name a few. When I have text to enter on my iPad, that text starts in Drafts and is at some point sent to the app where that text needs to be acted upon. However, once the text is entered in Drafts I am also able to keep an archived copy of that text for as long as I need it right in Drafts. I like knowing that I have a built in text archival system. Drafts is one of my most used apps on my iOS devices because it makes me more efficient in my work.
