Workflow - homework or project reminder

January 14, 2017 by Brian Foutty

Remembering to send out reminders to students (via Remind, Twitter, Facebook) to do their work is sometimes hard to remember to do because we frequently get busy with the details of being a teacher - managing a classroom, contacting parents, grading, preparing lessons, etc. Therefore, I think that it is natural for teachers to need our own reminder service. Unfortunately, I also know that our administrators (at least in Ohio) are also extremely busy. So it is probably not realistic to expect my principal to send all of my colleagues and I a reminder to send out our reminders to our students.

Thankfully, Workflow makes it easy for us to create a reminder in the native iOS Reminders app so that our iPads will prompt us to send out reminders to our students. This Workflow starts with text for the reminder brought in from Drafts, then asks you to pick the class, asks you to set the date, and then creates a Reminder for you. Three steps of entering text and two taps and your reminder is set to be delivered to you. You may never forget to remind your class of something ever again.

Note: I start in Drafts to enter the text. If you do not want to use Drafts you can have the first action in Workflow as a text box with the "Ask When Run" input for you to enter your text natively in Workflow. Both Workflows have been shared below.
