Workflow: infrequent task reminders

January 14, 2017 by Brian Foutty

Teaching is a very routine-oriented profession: workdays, schedules, tasks. However, there are certain things that I have to do that only arise only occasionally. For those occasional tasks it has really helped me to have Workflow to choose those one of those occasional tasks (like calling a parent) and then send it to Reminders or 2Do as quickly as possible. Since I switched this process to Workflow (instead of launching the specific reminder app I would use), I have found that I am completing those tasks significantly more regularly without a "gentle reminder" from my supervisor. I think I am being more successful at completing those tasks because Workflow helps me enter those tasks so quickly that I am able to get them set up before a student needs my attention. It is a short 3-action Workflow that allows you to create a new reminder in one tap and one date/time entry. Quick and to-the-point, which is how I like to work with my technology so I can focus on my students.
