Workflow: Research - Find Similar Sites

March 11, 2017 by Brian Foutty

Google has revolutionized search and the way research is done in schools. However, unless your students know how to perform advanced search techniques using Boolean logic or quotation marks (and most students don't know) then your students will receive a massive amount of information that they will have to go through to find the most pertinent search results. Additionally, many of the search results will be irrelevant or just plain terrible with respect to content and it's appropriateness for school. Similarsites.com is a website that allows you to search for sites that are similar in nature and content to the site you enter into its search bar. Consequently, if you or your students have a website with the kind of information you want, then you can use similarsites.com to narrow down your search for information that is relevant to you.

Workflow makes using similarsites.com easy and FAST. The Research Similar Sites Workflow below is a 5-action Workflow that enables you to find those sites right from Safari in three taps. The entire process of finding the sites that are most similar and relevant to your site will take note more than 1 minute. This Workflow should save your students from spending too much time doing repeated Google or Duck Duck Go searches to find the information they need.
